NATIONAL OPERATIONAL SUPPORT UNITS UNDER THE FUNCTIONAL GROUPING OF THE DIRECTORATE FOR OPERATIONS

DO have ten operational units under its functional supervision:

Functions:

Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP)

The Aviation Security Group, in coordination with the airport authorities, secures all the country’s airports against offensive and terroristic acts that threatens civil aviation, exercise operational control and supervision over all agencies involved in airport security operations, and enforce all laws and regulations relative to air travel protection and safety.

Civil Security Group (CSG)

The Civil Security Group provides administrative services and general supervision over the organization, business operations and activities of all organized private detectives, watchmen, security guards /agencies and company guard force. It also supervises the licensing and registration of firearms and explosives.

Maritime Group (MG)

The Maritime Group performs all police functions over Philippine territorial waters, lakes, and rivers, along coastal areas to include ports and harbors, and small islands for the security and sustainable development of the maritime environment.

Highway Patrol Group (HPG)

The Highway Patrol Group enforces all traffic laws and regulations, promotes safety along the highways, enhances traffic safety consciousness through inter-agency cooperation concerning Police Traffic Safety Engineering, Traffic Safety Education and Traffic Law enforcement functions, and develops reforms in the crime prevention aspects against all forms of lawlessness committed along the national highway involving the use of motor vehicles.

Special Action Force (SAF)

The Special Action Force functions as a mobile strike force or a reaction unit to augment regional, provincial, municipal and city police forces for civil disturbance control, internal security operations, hostage-taking rescue operations and other special police operations; such as anti-hijacking, anti-terrorism, explosives and ordnance disposal. The PNP Air Unit is placed under the supervision of SAF.

Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG)

Primary unit responsible for addressing kidnapping menace in the country and in handling hostage situation.

EOD/K9 Group

The EOD/K9 Group is responsible for the safe disposal of all bombs and neutralization of hazards from chemical, nuclear, and improvised explosive devices 9IED) that create threat to public safety, installation and utilities as well as to police operations and personnel.

Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG)

The Police Security and Protection Group is in charge of securing and protecting elected and appointed national government officials; members of the diplomatic corps and visiting foreign dignitaries; delegates and/or participants during special events, private individuals authorized to be given protection and vital government installations.

PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PNP DEG)

Conducts intensified anti-illegal drug operations, ensures the successful prosecution of drug cases and enhances public awareness on the harmful effects of dangerous drugs in partnership with the community.

Anti-Cyber Crime Group (ACG)

The Anti-Cyber Crime Group implement and enforce pertinent laws on cybercrime and other cyber related crimes and pursue an effective anti-cybercrime campaign.

SPOKESPERSON OF THE C, PNP

Specific Functions

  • Provide information to the tri-media and other concerned agencies regarding the Chief, PNPs official activities, actions and other positions on current events or pertinent issues, through scheduled briefings, direct responses to media inquiries, press conferences and interview with the Chief, PNP and his Command Group;
  • Respond promptly to any disinformation or false information affecting the organization;
  • Prepare official statements on behalf of the Chief, PNP;
  • Assist the Chief, Public Information Officer in the research and drafting of speeches and other materials for public events, whenever necessary; and
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Chief, PNP.
